Creating Your Brand Plan

Notes:

It's time to build your brand plan!

  1. Start with identifying your mission statement... what are you here to make happen in life?
  2. Next, identify 3-5 places you'll activate that mission statement or show, not just tell, people that this is what you do? How will you show it to people on social media? (Example: Grow Disrupt's mission is to create space for ADHD entrepreneurs to see themselves and what they need to do to grow their business clearly so they can thrive. We show this on social media by creating videos that entertain AND have a point)How will you show it on your website?How about your first live interaction with them? Is there some uniquely-you way you can answer the phone or wrap up the call? Can you send them a video afterwards that reiterates your mission?
  3. Last, identify 2-3 places you are breaking your brand promise? Where are you saying that you exist for one reason, but then undermining yourself in your marketing or customer interactions?

Getting Free PR For Your Business

Notes:

  1. Be NewsworthyTry newsjacking - look online at what people are talking about currently in relation to your industry...
  2. Write Great HooksTry looking up National Enquirer or AARP Headlines, and see if you can use that as inspiration for how to frame your story idea for a journalist...
  3. Find the Right JournalistThink about where you want to be featured... where do your clients go to look for news? Podcasts? Newspapers? TV?Look online for "Who talks about ____ for {news station}"
    Save that contact info!

Piece it all together!

Take your story idea and your hook. Use the Hook as the subject of your email to the journalist you found

Then in the body, lay out:{Story idea & why it's relevant}

And if you'd like to push out this story, I'd be happy to be your human interest angle and share about {what information you can share that would be relevant to the story}.

  2. Once a Quarter: Withdraw 25% of the entire Profit account, utilize this primarily to reduce debt but also to invest in your business with things like Profit Distributions and Conferences
  3. In Emergencies:Withdraw necessary funds for emergencies and rainy days from the Rainy Day fund, which otherwise does not get touched
